Meet the Teachers

Cindy Moorman: This is my eleventh year of teaching, my 9th at Fort Recovery. I am married to Tony and we live in Philothea with our three boys, Drew, Russ, & Will. Drew & Russ turned 4 this last February and Will is just over a year old. We keep busy at our house riding bikes, playing with sidewalk chalk, tractors, and trains. I love to read, sew, and scrapbook whenever I find the time.

Nicole Homan: I am married to Travis Homan, and we live in Chickasaw. We have a daughter, Alyssa, who is 3, a son, Trevor, who is 1, and a baby on the way in December! I love spending time with my family and spending time at home. I have been teaching for 8 years, and all 8 have been in Fort Recovery in 3rd grade!

Kim Pohlman:This is my 9th year of teaching at Fort Recovery. I am married to Greg and live in Coldwater with our two children, Faith and Johnny. Faith is 3 and Johnny is 2. I can't forget to mention Rudy, our dog, as he is part of our family! We love being a family and have so much fun doing things like taking bike rides, playing outside, going to the park, visiting family, and just spending time together. I feel so blessed to have a job that allows me to work with children and to teach them new and exciting things. Kids are our future and most precious gifts.

Sandy Raffel: I am a 3rd grade teacher. This is my 23rd year of teaching and my 21st year at Fort Recovery.  I have degrees in elementary education, special education and guidance. My husband’s name is Walter “Oop” Raffel and we have been married for 20 years. We have two children, Jenna, age 13 and Alex, age 12.  In my free time, I enjoy golfing, swimming, walking my dog, reading, riding RZRs and being with friends and family.

Amy Klingshirn: Amy has been married for 18 years and has 3 kids (Max, Pete, and Park) with her husband Jake.  Amy and her family live in FortRecovery. She is an intervention specialist for grades 3, 4, and 5.
Donna Bates: This is my 25th year teaching at Fort Recovery Schools. I teach Language Arts in the morning and Physical Education in the afternoon. I am married to Tal Bates. We live in Willshire with our three kids Zach, Kelsey, and Luke. Zach is a junior at Malone University, Kelsey is a freshman at Syracuse University, and Luke is a junior at Parkway Schools. This year in our free time we will be traveling to watch our kids play basketball, volleyball, baseball, and march in the band. I enjoy scrapbooking, riding bikes, and being with my family.
