Science:
The students have finished their unit on weather, although we continue to watch temperatures and patterns. Now we have started a unit on plants. We planted radish seeds and are comparing how they do with/without sunshine, water, or air as well as good soil vs. bad soil. We will look at how seeds hold the food to start growth and what flowers' jobs are.
Writing:
The first semester we focused on being fluent writers. Students were assigned to write in Buddy Books daily. They were graded on the amount and time they put into writing, as well as the genre.
This semester will be different. We will focus on grammar, and the mechanics and conventions of writing. Students will have worksheets for homework three to four times a week. They will have quizzes and tests over concepts taught in class. Students will have study guides and/or worksheets to study from.
Social Studies:
Students have finished learning about the American Revolution and the opening up of the Northwest Territory. Next we will be learning about Ohio becoming a state and the conflicts that happened with the Native Americans. Always an exciting chapter for those people living in Fort Recovery!!
