Welcome to the Fort Recovery Local Schools District’s website and the 2016-2017 school year. Within the site’s pages there is a wealth of information that is beneficial to district parents, residents and potential newcomers to our district.

The Fort Recovery Local Schools serves nearly 900 students in a community of approximately 1,500 residents. We strive daily to improve the academic achievement of all students and are driven by our mission statement, “To create a culture of collective responsibility to add value for all students through academic rigor and best instructional practices in a safe, caring, learning environment.”

Everyone associated with the Fort Recovery Local Schools takes pride in our hard work each day to provide students with an outstanding education supported by innovative teachers and programs. My tenure as superintendent will be centered on three primary goals:

            1) Continuing to raise student achievement in our school system by embracing the philosophy of “Every Student, EveryDay, No Matter What!”
            2) To be fiscally responsible and a good steward to the taxpayers of Fort Recovery in our expenditures.
            3) To build trust and credibility with the staff, parents, students, community members andstakeholders of Fort Recovery through effective communication, relationship building and support.

We are proud of the great things taking place in our classrooms, but we are not satisfied and are continually challenging our staff and students to improve every day.

While I am honored to be a resident of this great community and a parent in this tremendous school district, I am humbled to be its superintendent. It is gratifying to work alongside such a dedicated group of teachers, support personnel and community members as they make a positive impact in the lives of our students. I get excited each day about what the Fort Recovery Local Schools can become. We will continue to lay the groundwork to build upon the district’s tradition of excellence to reach even higher levels of achievement for all students.

I would like to take a moment to welcome three new staff members to the Fort Recovery Local Schools. We look forward to the addition of Mr. Marcus Overman (HS Principal), Mr. Tony Stahl (Middle School Principal) and Mr. Reid Knuth (Instructional Band).

Be sure to let me know if you have questions or ideas on how to make the Fort Recovery Local Schools better. Each day provides us with an opportunity to invest in students, our staff and our community.

With Indian Pride,
Justin M. Firks
Superintendent
