On Tuesday, Sept. 19th, the U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona recognized 353 schools in the United States as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2023. Fort Recovery Middle School was one of 19 schools in the state of Ohio, and one of 29 middle schools in the country, to be recognized as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School. The school was nominated for the award as an Exemplary High Performing School. In the Spring of 2023, the 2022-23 Superintendent, Larry Brown, and 2022-23 Middle School Principal, Ryan Steinbrunner, were informed of the nomination by the US Department of Education. The middle school staff, with the help and input of local community members, spent the following months completing an extensive application process. Their hard work culminated in a 14-page written summary highlighting the achievements and unique programs at Fort Recovery Middle School. On November 16th-17th, 2023 representatives from our school district will travel to Washington D.C. for the National Blue Ribbon Schools awards ceremony to accept the award. Celebrations involving our students, staff, and community members will be planned for around this time as well.

The administration and staff of Fort Recovery Local Schools are honored to have Fort Recovery Middle School recognized as a 2023 National Blue Ribbon School. It is a true testament of the hard work our students, staff, parents, and community members put forth on a daily basis here in Fort Recovery.
